2. Estonia is slightly bigger than Denmark
and has a coastline fragmented with 1,521 islands. 3. Estonia has the fourth smallest
population in the European Union, and the eighth
smallest land area. 4. The country is flat as a pancake – its
highest peak is 318 metres (1,043 ft) above sea level –
and it’s also the highest in the Baltic states. 5. According to the largest ever study of
height around the world, Estonian men and women are the
third tallest people on Earth. 6. One of the biggest meteorites to hit the
Earth in the recent history landed in Saaremaa island,
in what today is the village of Kaali. 7. Saaremaa is also where, according to one
measurement, the centre of Europe is located. |
